Lauren sat there, her notebook in her lap as she looked at the landscape that lay out in front of her. She was sketching it quickly as the sun began to set on her. It was soon too dark for her to even draw. “Dang it” she mumbled as she closed her notebook. She stuffed it into her bag and stood up, “Looks like I’ll have to finish tomorrow” she sighed. She turned around and bumped into something. “Ow” she said, rubbing her head before looking up. In the dim light she made out the figure of a man. Before she could do anything, he placed a hand quickly on her mouth and placed his index finger over his lips, indicating her to remain silent. She looked at him with confused eyes as he turned her back around. Her eyes took in the colorful lights that danced around the trees that surrounded them.
“They do not like loud noises” the man spoke quietly.
“Who are you?” Lauren asked in a hushed tone.
“I am Loki, Prince of Asgard” he answered back, small smile on his face.
“You’re joking,” she snorted in disbelief.
“Ah, but I am not” he shot back.
She looked up at him, “You’re a fictional character, just a myth.” He frowned for a moment, looking down at her.
“Why do you believe such nonsense?” he pondered.
“Why do you think I believe that you’re fake?” she fired back. He looked at her with his green eyes and sighed. “Whatever, I’m going home now,” she said as she took a step to go around him. She began to walk away but felt someone grab her arm.
“Look, you shall come with me mortal, or face dire consequences” he growled at her. The lights that fluttered around the trees when out. She turned and looked at him with a glare in her eyes before wrenching her arm out of his.
“Or what?” she taunted at him, crossing her arms over her chest, defying the so-called god.
“Or I shall make you pay” he said menacingly, making shivers run down her spine.
“Uh huh, right, whatever. I’m going to home, my bed is calling me,” she said, suppressing a yawn before turning around and began to walk away. Suddenly, he appeared in front of her, blocking her path. Lauren looked around her with surprise as more Loki’s surrounded her.
“Now do you believe me?” he asked, well, he all asked. She couldn’t say a word as one of the Loki’s came forth and cupped her chin with his index finger. He stared long and hard into her brown eyes, searching for something. She looked back into his emerald green orbs as the copies of the God began to fade away. “Ah, you do” he murmured happily before glancing at her lips. He leaned down and softly pressed his lips onto hers. She gasped slightly at the sudden electricity that filled her. It was unlike anything she had ever felt before, but in a good way. She slowly closed her eyes as she began to kiss back softly. Their lips fit perfectly together as Loki moved his hands to hold the sides of her face. They soon parted for air and she managed a smile at Loki.
“Did you feel that?” he asked her, in a soft, velvet like voice.
“Yeah” was all she was able to murmur back, her mind still on the kiss.
“You still have yet to tell me your name,” he pointed out, looking at her with shinning eyes. They weren’t the same angry filled ones she had seen earlier, but now they were showing off kindness and happiness, like she was the key to his emotions.
“Lauren” she answered, “of Brooklyn.”
“Well, Lauren of Brooklyn, I think we are meant for each other” he said, chuckling slightly. She smiled back; maybe this wasn’t going to be too bad at all.
